Twizel to Lake Ohau – 38kms

Total – 785kms

Today has turned into more of a rest day after finishing my ride by 10.30am. It was raining most of the way so I only stopped once for a drink and snack. I just wanted to get it over with to be honest as I was soaked through.

I biked out of Twizel to connect to another canal road that took me all the way down to the eastern side of Lake Ohau. Then joined a track around the bottom of the lake and then back on the road up to the lodge where I am leaving my bike. Dad and Janeen picked me up from there and we are staying in Twizel again tonight. I will wait and see if the weather forecast improves for tomorrow or else I might wait a day for it to pass.

We visited a Salmon farm just out of Twizel. We fed them pellets and watched them rush to the surface to eat them. There were some real good size fish in there. Hot smoked salmon for dinner tonight! We then drove down a canal road to look at the power stations at either end.
